On each of our trips we explore Paros a little more. Yet the island remains a mystery in some way. We will always miss it and that is why we will always return. This time around, our goal is to stay for 4 nights.

We set off on Friday without worrying about the departure time, since the ships leave the port or Peiraias both in the morning and the afternoon, while Olympic Airways has three flights for those who want to be on the island within 30 minutes. With BlueStar Ferries the duration of the trip is 4 hours, while with the HishSpeed it only lasts for two and a half hours.

Our friends’ good mood on the boat makes time fly… It will only take 15 minutes to cover the distance from Paros’ harbor to Mary’s House Studios. Our many choices include bus, taxi or rental cars. Any of them will take us there fast.

As soon as we reach the rooms, we are welcomed by the hospitable owners of Mary’s House and we are shown to our rooms. A welcome basket filled with treats awaits us there.

A warm bath and a good rest is a must to be able to get down to Naousa’s center, which will only take about five minutes on foot. A fun walk around the scenic streets of Naousa will fill you with beautiful images, wonderful smells of flowers and seafood! Blissful smiles of local residents enjoying their own walk will greet you. The small shop owners will contribute to the cheerful mood, with their big and small memorabilia and gifts. We can’t afford to miss out on the opportunity to taste the local delicacies from”Oinomageireio Gemeni” with ingredients from their own local farm, and later perhaps for a soothing cocktail at the harbor under the big plane tree.

 Day 1

Good morning Saturday! Woke up a bit late but that won’t put us down. We are enjoying out morning coffee on the balcony, eating the goods from Mary’s House welcome basket. The view of the stone fountain amidst the green garden is relaxing and joyful; meanwhile various smells and colors from the flowers outline a small heaven on earth…A small two minute walk will take us to the central bus stop, from where the bus will take us to the Santa Maria beach, an excellent organized beach with extensive sand, blue waters, beach bars, a restaurant, beach volley court and various water sports. The thought is to eat lightly here, because on the way back to Naouse we will stop to enjoy fresh fish or spaghetti at “Siparos” restaurant.

Early at night we will enjoy our drink sitting on white couches inches from the surf, at “Arty” bar. For a wild night out we will choose the Agosta or Barbarossa clubs on our way south towards the Venetian harbor. It will only take us 10 minutes to get back, since that is how far Mary’s House Studios are from the center of Naousa.

 Day 2

On Sunday morning we will take a stroll at the Punda Beach Bar, where the largest beach bar on the island is. It is the ideal spot for wild fun and many other activities. Renewed year after year, it invites us to live unique moments enjoying the sun on the beach, drinking a drink at the bar with the sounds of known DJ’s or just relaxing by the pool.

On our way back we will stop by Ampela to enjoy traditional flavors at Thalami, in generous portions and cheap prices. At night we will go down to Naousa but this time to “Takimi”. You can guess what goes on here. Live events with violin, bouzouki and other traditional instruments while drinking wine.

 Day 3

Monday is a bit windy so we head out to Kolimpithres beach with the small boat. It’s a good thing that Mary’s House Studios are so close to public transportation. The beach is one of the most famous of the island with big granite rocks around the beach offering a beautiful and quiet experience. Returning to Naousa we head to the “Matzourana” restaurant at the outskirts of Naousa for well cooked Mediterranean courses with ingredients straight from the owners’ garden. A drink at “Fotis” bar at the harbor is a must for out night fun, with a good crowd and good mainstream music.

 Day 4
On Tuesday we set out for Monasteri beach to take a swim at the crystal clear waters. Close to it is an Environmental Park to visit. Returning to Naousa we will visit the “Moraiti” winery in a beautiful building in the town to buy a few bottles to take back with us. Before leaving we will have one last ouzo at the old harbor accompanied with local delicacies. Maybe we will even enjoy some honey or chocolate glazed donuts from the “Paradosiako” bakery. We thank our hosts at Mary’s House Studios for the hospitality and the perfect service and we leave with a promise to return to the beautiful island of Paros, and Mary’s House Studios.
